Comissions A & Q

Do you take commissions for custom work?

Yes I do! I am almost always open for commissions, although there may be a waiting list depending on my current work load.

How do I get a quote for custom artwork commissions?

There are lots of ways to get a quote!  To get a basic in the ballpark quote, you can use the info graphic above to calculate a price estimate. If you are serious about obtaining on original piece of custom artwork, you can message me through Facebook, our Contact page or even by emailing me at awier@weaselsoneasels.com. I can give you a more accurate quote and talk about your options for custom work.

How much does your artwork cost?

My work is priced per the sq. inch for most flat and traditional mediums. For fursuits, fursuit parts, sculptures, Windstone Editions PYO’s and repairs of collectible sculpture artwork, please contact me.

My basic pricing is as follows:

  • $1.50 / sq. inch For colored pencil work and scratch board etchings.
  • $1.25 / sq. inch For all other mediums not listed.

  • Add $25.00: For each subject beyond two.
  • Add $25.00: For any artwork smaller than 8 x 10.

  • $0.08 / sq. inch For custom cut matting.
  • $0.15 / sq. inch For framing.
All canvas paintings are pre-mounted and ready to display. My framing is solid hardwood and/or bamboo.

At this pricing, a single subject, 8” x 10” canvas painting would be as follows: ( 8 x 10) x 1.25 = $100.00 (plus shipping). My quote may price slightly higher or lower than these calculations, but this will give you a pretty good estimate of what to expect when you request a quote or work.

What is your payment Policy?

I require a 50% non-refundable down payment prior to beginning any commissioned artwork. This covers the cost of materials and other costs. Also, final payment is due by our agreed upon date and/or the completion of your artwork. Finally, the buyer is responsible for incurred shipping costs. My work is all shipped insured with tracking (when available) and no artwork will be shipped until payment has been received in full and cleared.

What is the usual turn around time?

The usual turnaround time for commissioned artwork is 2-4 weeks from the start of the artwork although this can be longer, up to 8 weeks, due to workload, project size and other variables. I keep regular contact with my clients to ensure they are updated on the current progress of their artwork.

What mediums and work will you do for me?

I work in almost all mediums and specialize in wildlife, nature and furry artwork. The better question is, “What will I NOT do?”.

To answer that question, although I am open to almost anything and trying new things there are a few things I absolutely will not do for you:

  • I do not do portraits of people. I might be able to do your Armour clad knight, but I’m lost when it comes to human faces.
  • I do not do wedding or event photography. I am a wildlife photographer her takes photos as part of my work and for references for other artists to use. I do not have the materials required for event, wedding or portrait set ups, although if you need me to paint your pet and have no workable photos, I may be able to work with you to take some for a cost.
  • I absolutely do not, under any circumstances, work with lewd furry art. I will do you couples photos and au natural animal work, (like this) but it must be deemed safe for work for me to consider it.
  • I do not make Murr/yiff fursuits. Don’t even ask. If you don’t know what this is, don’t look it up.
  • I do not work in pastels. Ya this is really basic, but I can’t the texture. I can however work in colored pencils in a way that looks like pastels. If you want that softer style, colored pencil is the way to go. Just let me know.

And finally, I reserve the right to deny any work I am not happy with or do not feel comfortable doing.

Will you create furry artwork or fursuits for me?

Yes I will. Just inquire. The only exceptions are the following:

  • I absolutely do not, under any circumstances, work with lewd furry art. I will do you couples photos and au natural animal work, (like this) but it must be deemed safe for work for me to consider it.
  • I do not make Murr/yiff fursuits. Don’t even ask. If you don’t know what this is, don’t look it up.

 

Will you donate artwork to my event or create this piece for me for free?

Chances are, no. You can ask, but the answer is probably no. I just can’t afford it. In some cases, I am willing to trade artwork for other artwork or services, but this is generally based on if there is something I am specifically looking for and/or have the extra time. “Exposure” and offering to “Like” or “Follow” my pages are not valid trades. There are small, select groups I am affiliated with that I may try to help, but it is uncommon.

Basic Terms and Conditions of work/sale:

I require a 50% non-refundable down payment prior to beginning all commissioned artwork. This covers the cost of materials, my shipping costs and other related costs in creating your artwork. This fee is only refundable if I have to cancel the work for whatever reason, in which you will be refunded in full.  While this can be made in payments, no work will be started until that 50% has been met. If you decide to cancel your work for whatever reason, you will not get this back.

As of 02/30/2017 All slots for work not paid in full at time of invoice will require a 10% or $100 down (which ever is less) to claim your work slot. This can count towards your total deposit and secures your work slot.

As of 02/30/2017 All Invoices left open for more than 60 days without any type of payment will be deleted. If you have paid 10% for a slot, it will be refunded if work has not been started.

As of 03/15/2017 All payment plans lasting longer than 75 days (2.5 Months) will gain a 10% or $200 fee (whichever is less). If you planned a payment plan with me for less than 75 days and it exceeds that time due to problems on my side, that no fee will be gained. If you planned a payment plan with me for less than 75 days at 70 Days a final payment notice will be sent and if it has not been paid within 3 days of the due date, than the fee will be added!

I do take rush orders! The price for rush orders may vary upon work load, but is generally at least 25% of your order cost plus a base cost of $150 for all work over $499. Please inquire for rush order times. Certain items such as fursuits have a minimum completion time and it can vary! Example: You order a fursuit that would normally be set for 4-5 Months and cost $1500. A rush order would change that to 8-12 weeks and incur a $475 rush order fee.

 All of my work is shipped insured with tracking (where available), through the buyers chosen shipping method. Buyer pays shipping.

I reserve the right to refuse service for any reason. I reserve the right to resell artwork left unpaid after 60 days of completion if not further attempts to pay it in a timely manner have been made.

I DO have a studio CAT and though I do my best to keep her out of my studio and art materials, she may occasionally gift you a cat hair or two in your packages with the foam peanuts. I am NOT responsible for any allergy issues that may arise from the purchase or use of my projects. She is kept away from all fine artworks during their creation and all fur is stored in the studio that it stay away from her, but this is your warning of a possible allergy risk.

I reserve the right to deny commission work at anytime for any reason. I am under no obligation to accept work that I am uncomfortable or unable to complete.

I reserve the right to deny access work beyond “reasonable adjustments”. Once a preliminary sketch/design/colors have been decided upon and deposit accepted, there are limited changes that can be made. I do my best throughout the commission process to ensure the client is happy with their artwork and kept up to date. Suddenly changing your mind and an entire piece right after it is finished may be denied. Artwork is not always easily changed without redoing it. Changing your mind may require a new deposit to cover material costs and lost time.

 

As commissioned work is custom and more difficult to sell, once the buyer has agreed that a piece is finished and the item has been shipped, no returns will be accepted unless the item was damaged in shipping, under which the buyer would need to comply with an insurance claim to be refunded or for cost of replacement.

Allison has done 2 very nice pieces for me. One was a Windstone PYO Hippocampus that I won from her.The other was a Windstone PYO Kitty Griffin that I commissioned her to do as a Lynx Point Siamese Griffin. Both pieces turned out very nice and I’m very happy with both of them.
